maybe I just never noticed it before but the screen doesn't extend all way across there is a very skinny black outline around screen. Was it always like that and I just never noticed it before or is this new to the new ROM. It's driving me crazy

I guess it was all my imagination, but I really hadn't noticed it before and when you fixate on something your mind can magnify anything...

And Driftless, 480x640 is the resolution of the screen and has nothing to do with the size......the x50v also has 480x640 screen, but it is smaller
