Proud owner of new ipaq 4700
Hi all...
I just ordered my ipaq and am anxiously awaiting its arrival!!

Now.. I haven't had an Ipaq in a few years. So I'm really excited. Will I need to do the ROM update or is it a matter of personal opinion. I read some of the comments on it already.

Have there been any problems with having both a CF card and a SD card in the unit at the same time?

Thanks..
Marie

Congratulations!
There are a couple of major threads on here re: the ROM Update so you can spend the time while you're waiting for your new baby to arrive reading the thread. I would be inclined towards doing the update but do it immediately before doing anything else.
You're gonna love it!

Thanks RedSeven!

I'm sure that I'll end up doing the update as soon as I receive it!

I too have ordered my HX 4700... currently a Dell X50v owner... and I know the first thing I'm going to do, is install the ROM update, then re-load all my Programs. It will hopefully be here this week. I sold my Dell this evening and will be delivering it tomorrow, so for a while, I will be without a PDA... a new experience for me.

As for the SD and CF card, I have no problem using both in my Dell, and I expect no less from the HX 4700. I use my 1 GB CF more than my 1 GB SD Card because it's 80X compared to the 32X SD Card.

I'm sure you will enjoy your HX 4700.

Nick

I'm in the same boat. Ordered it on Friday (on a holiday weekend - go figure) and really looking forward to getting it!

I'm a bit concerned about the ROM update as well - still haven't decided. I've been poring over some of the threads about it. If I do it, I'll probably do it right away, before putting anything else on there.

Enjoy your 4700!

I have a CF card in with all my music on (512mb) and an SD card with all the other stuff (1Gb). No issues at all.

For the new owners. I suggest when you decide what programs you want to load, install them to iPAQ file store except today plugins that have to reside in main memory. Doing so will free up ram for running programs, eliminate the possiblilty of a lost or damaged storage card with unavailable programs, Speed up the process of a restor should you perform a hard reset. And of course BACK UP often.

And fear not the ROM upgrade, it went smothly on my 4700, besides I trust HP (oops)

Dual Cards and ROM
Marie, hope you enjoy. I have a 1Gb CF card and a 0.5Gb SD card in and both are recognised and work fine without any issues. Re the ROM upgrade I upgraded mine on receipt and have had no major issues with the machine but there are a lot more techniclly asstutue people on this forum hwo could give you good reasons why / why not upgrade.
