Clearing rubbish files/ROM u/date Q's???
Just a question or two. Had my 4700 for just over a week now and really happy with it. Mobile web browsing with mobile phone and b/tooth fine. Same with 802.11b at home, complete with synching to my centrino equipped laptop, and file sharing. Only had one hangup so far requiring soft r/s, but was my fault as I tried to close an application before it was established when I accidentally selected it instead of another I was intending to open (the same happens with XP on real computers, so not too concerned).
First question, if everything is ok for me now, should I risk installing the ROM upgrade, considering all the apparent problems others are having? Or should I just wait for the WM5 upgrade coming soon and buy that?
Second question, how do you rid this thing of all the rubbish files, .temps, cookies etc. that are easily cleaned with XP utilities on bigger cousin computers?
Do you do it manually, and if so how and where do you look? Or do you install a utility programme available somewhere? I can see the files mounting up every day, and surely this can choke performance eventually. Maybe do a hard reset every month or so, and spend the next hour resetting everything (as I am sure a backup reload will just reinstall the garbage)?
Thanks for any assist............Bill....;-)

The update question is down to you? are there any problems that you are experiencing that it fixes?

For cleaning I use a combination of programmes:
SK Tools
DinarSoft MemMaid
Pocket Mechanic
Cleaner+ (free)

They are all linked in my MyPDA and the commercial programmes have trials that you can try out. I have listed them in the order of how much I use them - but I wouldn't not have any of them.

If all you want to clean is cookies and IE temp files Cliekc IE>tools>options>memory or >security. Then you can clean that "rubbish" from the iPAQ. I agree with Rob as I use someof the same tools to clean. Memaid also allows you to store your IE "rubbish" to a storage card freeing up ram space.

I am new to the PPC scene and am trying to gather as much info as I can in order to get the maximum use from my hx4700 so I am asking what may seem to be silly questions to those who know. So here goes another one.
Why is it necessary to use a combination of programs for cleaning as listed by Rob:
SK Tools
DinarSoft MemMaid
Pocket Mechanic
Cleaner+ (free)
Is there any one of them that will do all the necessary cleaning/managing of the files and rubbish that gathers in the memory. It seems to be a complicated process by having to use several progs to achieve the desired results.
Regds,
Jim

Eaxch of these will clean temp files on their own.
