ROM1.10 and VPN, Terminalservices, Fileaccess
Hi out there,

I just updated my new hx4700 to ROM 1.10 and after that I couldn't connect to the Terminalservices at my Windows 2000 server - with ROM 1.00.09 it worked.

Now I found out that I have to set rules in the connection-settings for the server's IP and/or the server's name, so this problem is solved and may be of interest for other users here.

So far so good - BUT when VPN is established, I like to get access to the folders on my server as well, but that doesn't work. The File Explorer always tell me that the address cannot be found / address is wrong etc...

Does anyone have a hint or a rule that I have to define in the connection settings?

Many thanks,

Tom

I have no problem connecting to our Windows 2000 Server FR with terminal services with the new ROM on my hx 4700. But this is through the wireless network. I don't know about a VPN, though, because I have no need for one. You would have to set up security on the items you want access to individually, I would have thought, because 2000's VPN configuration is not up to the standard of W2k3's.

Hi,

I am also connected by wireless lan in my office and at home and by cellphone otherwise.

The point is - I think - the connections are configured as "internet" access because I am also accessing to that and therefore all access to the local lan needs an explicit VPN connection.
It seems that the system separates the networks for security reasons. Maybe that's why I cannot get access to my server over VPN (On the other hand the functioning terminal access works....)

Still wondering why...
