New User with Idea to make NavPoint Work
hey everybody,

I've had an hx4700 to play with for about 24 hours now, it's a beautiful machine and it's biggest shortcoming for me is the Touch Pad, if this has been mentioned before, excuse my ignorance, but I find that "tap to select" is the worst part of the whole cursor mode experience, but if there was a way to map selecting/clicking to one of the hardware buttons, this would be completely different story. Anyway, if there is a way to do such a thing, it would absolutely make this little device that much closer to ideal.

Sure, Button 7 on mine is mapped for this purpose. Click start>settings>personal>buttons. Step one (select a button) Step 2 (assign a program.

I was skeptical at first, but after using the touch pad I have grow very accustomed to it, with the exception of typing.

not seeing <select> or <click> as one of the options available for a hardware button, is this available with the newer rom version?

Click means what you do with you sytlus, sorry tap. Such as click (tap) on start then click on settings, then click on personal, then click on buttons. When you see the buttons menu the first thing you do is "1. select a button" which translates to tap one of the available buttons i.e. button 1 through 8. Then you "2. Assign a program" by tapping on the down arrow next to the displayed program which brings up a pop up with all available programs/actions you can assign to a button. Tap on Nav point mode, Which selects it for the button you have decided to use. After this is done you will be able to exit the buttons settings menu. Then when you want to change from cursor mode to navigation mode when using the touch pad you press, or press and hold the hardware button to switch modes.

But then again, after reading your post again, I'm not sure I'm giving you an answer to the question asked.

Good Luck anyway

hi,
yeah, I'm not sure, I'm trying to go with the idea on most laptops, where you'd use the Touchpad to move the mouse to a spot, and then use the right mouse button to click/select. I think the inclusion of something like the right mouse button would make the navpoint idea work. Not sure if its been done though.
