iPAQ totally whacking out
Oaky, maybe you remember a post of mine last week when I was griping about my iPAQ being generally retarded. So I sent it back to HP and they "replaced the main board" which is a bunch of bull**** because it still had ROM version 1.10 and the default mainboard obviously has 1.01. So I bet they really didn't go jack to it. Anyways thats not the point. I pulled it out of the box and the first thing I did was downgrade back to the 1.01 ROM version because I don't like 1.10. I hven't installed anything or done anything besides transfer oz_VGA over. The first time I ran it and it reset, half my icons are gone! No start icon, nothing. I go to click start and it doesn't even bring down the memory, instead I get a "Hey, its microsoft and we like to screw the little man with crappy software, and did I mention you have not enough ram available to preform this request? Well I frankly don't care because I've made my billions regardless of whether or not your product works. Love an kisses - Bill Gates." Or something to that end. I am seriously fed up right now. Whats up? I mean no apps were open, nothing. memory slider allthe way over to storage, so I had maxedout prog memory, and still its insufficient. Keep in mind that no software is installed besides ozVGA. Everything works fine in standard VGA mode, but when in real VGA (which is the only way I even use my PDA) the thing is unusable. God, I need help. That godawful Ugghhh I hate typing this cursed word.... dell... there, i said it, yes theat... dell... x50v is looking more and more tempting even though I can't stand it. C'mon guys, for $600 this shouldn't be happening to me !!!!!. Sorry for ranting, but its like 12:00 AM and I am seriously worked up about this. Cheers.

Calm down Justin. Don't flame me on this but just think.

I would imagine that the new units will have ROM 1.10, after all don't you think people would be pissed if they bought a new hx and had to do a ROM upgrade out of the box (at least after the old stock has cleared the shelves). And what if maybe there is some conflict between new hardware (the new motherboard) and older ROM versions (such as 1.00).

So just an idea...why not restore ROM 1.10 and see if you have the same problem. I'm no expert just thinking out loud Good Luck.

Justin is this with your 4705?

I am sorry for your frusteration. I have no advice for you as you know I have never own a PDA before I wont until wed or thurs...when mine comes in (btw I decided to go with hx2755).

But I hope you get this fixed. I know how it is to spend alot of money and then to find out that you cant even put your money to use...

I hope you get it fixed. If it still doesnt work send it back and demand a new one...who knows it could be a bad apple. Out of all the computer world even the best well made ones...there is always one bad apple...It happens...

You forgot to move all those extra resource files that you need to move into your Windows folder on the Pocket PC for ozVGA to work properly in VGA mode. All you need to do is go back to the ozVGA site, download those extra files and put them in the Windows folder.

Question, Where did your start icon go? Answer, you never installed it! (The VGA version.)

When in doubt, RTFM.

I'll agree w/ Grumps...reload 1.10 and start from scratch. Don't worry about SeVGA just yet...you can always install it later...

Just take it one step at a time, reinstall your basic apps (not to main memory preferrably), and do regular backups.

Take you time and I'm sure you'll be fine!

AGH! I've seen exactly this before! You don't need to go reloading firmware or hard resetting.

All you need to do is finish installing ozVGA! The graphics that are missing just need to be installed. You haven't messed anything up by running ozVGA without the required components, but you need to install them if you want it to work properly.
