Flight mode - where did it go?
Hey all,

I know this question has been asked, but not really answered, except for the trusted "do a hard reset" answer, which I am not prepared to do.

So, in case anyone has any ideas, the option to turn On/Off FLIGHT MODE when you click on the network status icon has dissapeared. I tried turning on and off the wifi through the settings (with no problems) , but the FLIGHT MODE option is no where to be seen.

Anyone know how to get this back?
(I'm not really interested in downloading other software too). There must be something to try before a hard reset!!

thanks
Mike

Interesting question. Since my rom upgrade I no longer see flight mode. Not that I paid too much attention to it anyway, so I don;t miss it.

Sorry.

Since there are people who have applied the update and still can see flight mode, I'm guessing it might be something else, but possibly related to a ROM install. Is it possible that this could be due to something overlooked with an attempt to use a back-up file after the update, instead of syncing and then manually reinstalling programs using Activesync.

Why bother with it at all? To my understanding, all it does is ensure both wireless transmitters, BT & Wlan, are off for when boarding a plane. Isn't it just as easy to open the connections screen and ensure both are turned off, and/or make sure the blue light is off and the X by the network status button is there? I have wondered why this little nicety 'flightmode' is there at all!! Come to think of it, I would be troubled boarding a plane affected by spurious radio transmissions, considering all the stuff floating around the ether from the ground and space.
Bill......;-)

Your solution is what I do when I take the plain. But I have never seen anything called "flight mode" on my French 4700... WHer is it supposed to be?

I agree that the usage of "FLIGHT MODE" is pretty pointless for the whole boarding the plane scenario.

I work in a hospital , and therefore used the flight mode ON & OFF so that I don't broadcast WIFI next to medical machinery.
It is a tad quicker than going into the settings screen and clicking on the WIFI button. But I used it because repeatedly clicking on and off on the WIFI button for some reason would make it impossible to connect to my router, requiring a soft-reset. This problem doesn't occur with the FLIGHT MODE toggle.

Must be a quirk - there are a hundred million quirks with the mobile software so far, but as long as it keeps running.

I don't think that there is a concrete answer to this particular issue of the flight mode dissapearing as no one has posted a solution, just sporadic people complaining of this issue. So, I'll leave it to the WM2005 to fix all my problems! Hahah!

thanks to all,
Mike

Murat, when you are connected via wireless, you should be able to click on the connection icon at the top of the screen. Here you should see the flight mode option. Now I will have to admit that I do not know for sure you will see it in the French version. Please see the attached screen shot.
