problem w/ SD Card...please help
I broke the lock switch off my scandisk SD 1gb card.....And the messed up thing is that it must have broke in the locked position because now the card is write protected....what if anything can I do to make this card usable again. I know this should probably go in the storage card forum but I thought I could get help faster here....anyone know of a fix or solution? All help is greatly welcomed...thanx

Hi TC, short of finding a really fine tool to try to slide the switch manually with it, I think you are out of luck. I don't think there is any software based way around it.

I found the answer on another forum already, but thanx anyways swhoutx035.
There is a way to fix the card. All you need to do is tape over were the switch used to be. There isn't really an internal little switch in the card. It is more like the little rectangle thing on the old 3.5 floppies. Just a little piece of scotch tape and I'm back in business....f***ing awesome...I thought I was gonna have to trash my $60 card

That trick works on other things also such as a VCR Recordable Tape (or if you want... record over on a retail tape) or an audio tape...
