Compare it to a PC OS. When you bought Windows 98, you didn't get to upgrade to Xp for free...yes it will cost money...but new OS versions are always fun
I don't think IpaqChoice will be offering WM5 for your 4700. HP will be later this summer. It is my understanding you can only buy from the manufacturer of the PPC as each ROM image must be configured for the device it will be loaded to and running on.
Hi »HunTeR«. Perhaps your ISP will be gracious enough to give you WM5 for free too...but I wouldn't count on it.
Pauko Choelho in his book "The Alchemist" (great book by the way)
had someone to say "if it happens once then it may never happen again. but if it happens twice it will surely happend again." (or something close to that lol)
Well it happened once.

The Heavy one with the hx4700 and the pitbull.
I hate the gouging for software for PPC as it is. Not enough quality free software, and commercial software is overpriced. It costs more to buy a PocketPC than a desktop that is 4x as powerful, and then add on the cost to software... horrible.
Needless to say, some applications may end up requiring WM5.0 - and with Microsoft's great Marketing stunt of "persistent memory" or whatever (which should have been done years ago), it will be a must on my hx4700 without a memory upgrade.
True, has got a point here, I find it remarkable that so much people don't have any objections paying for all those small applications and even paying for OS upgrades before it is even known to be stable.
Personally I don't have such big hesitations on using illegal appz, however if I see a usefull app for my pocket pc I buy it sometimes. In the contrary I can't even remember myself ever buying any applications for my desktops/laptops I never even had a legal version of Windows. I bought a fair share of games, but that's a little different.
Why am I more easily subdued to buying ppc stuff? Lower prices, maybe......

I was able to download a handful of free card games, mahjongg, and a variation on Yatzee for free.
A lot, but not all, the freeware is reasonably priced, you just have to look in the right places to find it.
