Program installations
Im sure this has been asked before and I searched but didn't find what I was looking for.

My question is: Where should all my programs be installed to. File store, Sd card, CF card etc. So that my 4700 will operate at peak efficency.

Thank you
Tony

Hi Tony. Unless a program specifically needs/states that it must to be in Main Memory, I install to FS. Some exceptions are programs that I want to load/run faster/smoother.

The downside of using FS is that there is not a lot of it, buy yourself a SD card (doesn't have to be big) and install your stuff there. If you are not fully aware of which programs really have to be installed where use this simple scheme;
games -> FS/SD
tools that are/use a today plugin -> main memory
applications -> FS/SD (if they won't run or slow, uninstall and reinstall to main memory)

Thanks for the info. I have a 1gig Sd and a 2 gig CF for storage and will follow those tips. So just to make sure, I would install pocket informant into main memory and planmaker into file store ect?

Thanks

I don't know much about this. But it does make sense to put the programs you use the most, in the main memory. Shove all multimedia into your CF and SD card (prefebly your videos into CF and pics in SD) and put your less used programs into your File Store!

The guiding principal is to leave as much main Memory free as possible - this allows your programmes (wherever they are stored) to run as smoothly as possible.

As others have said some HAVE to be installed to main memory - but other than that install them somewhere else.

I have marked where I have installed my programmes in my myPDA.

Yes you should install informant into main memroy. For planmaker, however, I believe it would work just fine in a sd card or FS.

PlanMaker and TextMaker work fine from SD/CF and FS. They just take a little while to load.
