I bought the best case for me
After looking all over the planet I ordered the BELLAGIO LEATHER CASE.

What tipped the scales:

Fits in ipaq cradle, supports extended battery, acts like a make-shift stand and offers a little more screen protection than some other leather cases.

http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a...reviews&id=555

$39.00 on ebay.

Hi Jlac. That's a nice looking case. Give us a mini review when you get it and let us know how it is in real life. I would in particular like to know how well it really fits in the cradle. The Sena I have has never really fit quite well.

Hi, I am also looking for a black leather case to protect the iPAX hx4700 and the sceen, to carry it with the belt clip, and to fit into the HP included cradle. It seems that the HP cradle is the most convenient and stable one (for synchronizing) in comparison with the other vendors' USB cables (for charging and ActiveSync).

Any personal experience of the carrying case that could achieve the above mentioned 3 needs would be greatly appreciated.

That's what sold me on it was the fact it fits in the cradle and didn't find any others out there that even claimed to fit. I'm sure there are others out there but I could not find one.

The extra padding for the screen is a nice touch too and also it does not cover the screen or speaker like some of them I looked at.

As I may do mini slideshow presentations with the 4700, the fact that it has a built in stand is a nice touch. It "might" even serve as a mini GPS cradle in the car.

It looks well thought out and my guess is that it has some features that make sense for some of us. Not for everyone of course but it's the most logical one for me that I could find.

Oh, and if and when the extended battery fix gets' here..it will hold that too.

I recently bought a Krusell Verdicalic black leather case. Good points: really really slim, when it's on the belt doesn't feel like you're carrying a pda its more like a phone, the screen protection is good as well (although I would recomend from the very beginning to get a protective foil, cheap - big effect, even the screen feels better). Bad points: doesn't feet at all in the cradle, so I'm thinking of getting an additional usb cable for syncronisation or a bluetooth adapter for my pc.

The Sena case is supposed to fit in the cradle. It does to a degree, but it is still very tight, even after several months. It still feels like it's being forced into the cradle.

I'll let everyone know when mine arrives and how it fits. My guess is it would be tight too as there's not much play in my cradle but we'll see.

Didn't you guys notice that the ipaq holder on your cradle is actually removable? The cradles for a lot of ipaq's is the same with different plastic forms to house the differently shaped devices. I have a Covertec black leather case for my hx4700 and it definately doesn't fit with the plastic placeholder, but if I remove it I can easily put it on......

There is a small downside, it sits less stable on your cradle, true, but no real problem.

btw. that case looks nice.

Hi gschoots, I tried it a while back,,, it is too unstable for my tastes and i didn't want the connector on the iPAQ to become loose from the rocking or from all the pressure to hold the device being placed just on the connector pins.

I don't know.. the case doesn't look very nice opened. I might be a stickler for perfection but when the case is opened, the leather that surrounds the touchpad and the buttons first seems extremely fragile and secondly doesn't actually cover all the metal, if you look at the picture it leaves out a slight sliver. Maybe they just didnt put it in right but I'm just a freak

Yes, I noticed that about fragile, flimpsy and off center. Maybe the craftsman was having an off day.

Some of the others I looked at covered the speaker, the mic and even part of the screen. It's only $40.00 afterall so I'm not expecting a Vaja custom here. I spent $25.00 on a Boxwave antiglare Screen Protector and that thing I can't even see.

I'll give an honest review of it when it arrives.
