BT headphone connect issues
I have a HBH-300 headset and the BT wizard sees it as a headset but gives me:

Requested service is not running on this device. Make sure service is enabled.

I have all the services enabled, so what gives?

Ok, thanks that fixed it. It only plays audio for about 10secs then cuts off.

Hi Jlac, at the very beginning of the section it says, "The only current iPAQs that can be modified to use the Bluetooth headsets is the iPAQ h2200 series and the iPAQ 194x series." but there is a hack also listed in the beginning of the section for these two iPAQs and you could always try that because the author says she hasn't tried them on other units. (See this download site for the details)

Well, that seemed to have fixed it. Something did anyway. I did the runtime install and spent 3 bucks. Pretty funny, it rings at you. then when you turn on headset and it connects. When you turn off the headset it disconnects.

I still have to go in and manually connect through BT manager though. Anyway to auto connect when I turn on headset?

A second option might be to put a BT icon on the today screen. I have no idea how to do that.

SO you are saying the hack worked for your 4700? That would be something to put in the Bluetooth section if it did and e-mail the author. As for the auto connect, seems you already are knee deep in that conversation .

Yes, it's working now just fine and the patch seems to work as advertised. This seems pretty stupid that you would have to do this just the have basic BT, but stupid or not, it's working and STAYS on.

One thing it does not fix. You can't use Headphone equalizer with it but you can record your voice through the headset like with NoteM.

Yep, knee deep in auto is right , but thought I would ask

I could see why you might not want to auto connect to anything that might pass you by, say a hacker that was sniffing, but seems to me if you setup to connect only to paired devices by ID that might afford you some protection.

Hey I don't know anything, I'm just a clueless noob.

Thanks for the help.

Joe

Not really related to a connection issue but I found a reason why you might not want to auto connect. I will pair this same headset to my phone as well, if it auto connected to both devices at the same time that might not be good.

As a workaround, I made a shortcut to BT connection manager on my today screen, so one click get's me to all my BT shortcuts and devices that are paired. One click of that icon opens up my shortcut device screen. A tap and hold connects anything in there so it's not a huge deal and saves me a few steps at least though the UI.

Yes, we were all noobs at one time. None of us were born knowing anything, we either had to learn it on our own or someone teach us. One of the things I like abut this forum is that people are willing to help and just don't say "use the search button" or RTFM. I'm also finding people here seem to understand what I ask rather than say Dude..wat U mean?
