Best Screen Protector
Hey guys, I've been looking at the plentiful screen protectors and I've been wondering what your opinions are of the different screens.

So here post the different screen protectors you've used and which one you like the best. If you've only used one, say why it is the best. Also don't be too biased that you aren't willing to post cons about it also.

I doubt, however, that there will be many cons considering the screen protector's simple task.

I've tried Boxwave and Martin Fields and prefer the Martin Fields. They seem a bit more durable. I currently have a Boxwave applied but will replace it with a Martin Fields pretty soon.

They look identical to the Boxwave Crystal but something is a little different in the material.

The Boxwaves seem to stick down a little easier, but the Martin fields sticks just fine after it has been sitting for a little while. Sometimes with these type of protectors, you just need to leave them alone after you have applied them as best as you can for the corners to fully stick. There always seems to be one stubborn corner, but you can't see this while the screen is turned on.

The Boxwave does come with a nice screen cleaning cloth but it's not worth the loss of durability.

Whichever one I've used, I use car wax and Pledge to prolong the protectors life. Every once in awhile, you can take some car wax or Pledge, apply it to a cloth and then wipe the cloth on the screen. It only takes a tiny ammount of either. You don't want to be getting anything inside the PPC, which is why you should first apply whatever you use to a cloth.

I have also found that the stylus used by some delivery drivers is softer and doesn't scratch either of the protectors as readily as the stock stylus. My driver was kind enough to give me a few.

I've never tried Martin Fields, primarily becuase the Boxwave I bought when I got my device last year (october) is still on my device... Seems pretty durable to me.

I have used Nu-Shield protectors on my HP 2215. They are the only protectors that I have seen that truly dissapear. They slide under the corners of the screen (between the screen and body of the unit) instead of sticking on the face (absolutely no bubbles).

When I am using one of these, I don't even know that there is a protector on the unit.

I do quite a bit of writing on screen. Along with contacts and appointments there are long IRC sessions at the coffee shop, short ones at the grocery store, writing in Pocket Word, and posting on forums like this. I think that the keyboard would not wear the screen as much as Letter Recognizer but I'm faster with Letter Recognizer.

True VGA mode seem to cause more wear due to writing in a smaller area but I can't figure out why this should matter.

I've tried the BoxWave and the Martin Fields.

The Martin Fields lasted 2 days before it got removed. It was awful to get on (try seperating it for the backing!), never sat right and the bubbles remained.

The BoxWave has been on for 4 months (maybe 5 actally) now. It was easy to apply, settled on immediately and the last of the wee bubbles had gone within 24 hours.

So I'd recommend Boxwave. But enough people recommended the Martin Fields one for me to try it, so it may just be that I had a bad experience.

Better hope you have a protector actually on the screen before you try it!!

I have only used the HP branded protectors, as they were the only ones in stock when I bought it. Not very impressed with them. They tend to put a reflection on the screen, while stating they will remove them, making it difficult showing something to somebody whilst driving it for them. After a month of use it is pretty scratched up (can see which screen buttons I access the most), but I have 11 to go, so probably get a years use from a pack. They come with a naff microcloth wipe and applicator spatula, but find it hard to recommend them, and will have to try others before I am sure.

After the terrible HP ones I got some Anti-Glare Boxwaves.

Still on my first one after 13 months! - so no problems with durability for me

I've had a boxwave crystal on mine for 6 months, as far as crystal or normal goes that depends on where you use the PDA. I'm an all rounder and find the crystal a nightmare in the car for GPS as it reflect pratically everything. But it does give colour 'reproduction' compared with the anti-glare so works well for image/video viewing.

I have Boxwave Crystal on right now, and it was a nightmware to install. Finally have one as close to no dust as possible, but there is a nasty scratch in the protector now (my fault, not of the protector), so I should replace it soon (hoping that the scratch did not go into the screen).

In all, I really can't recommend them - edges don't stick well, and I personally don't like this design of screen protector...but that is just me. This is my third one.

And on the flip side, I've got a boxwave antiglare and it works perfectly. Went on great, keeps the screen safe, and it's easy to take off, clean, and put back on. Definately recommended.....

Ok.. Well what I'm particularly looking for is the most cost effective screen protector. Meaning I'm willing to replace the screen protector every week if I have to as long as I get the longest protection for my dollar.

But so far, it seems like the cheap ones last about a month and the expensive ones last 1-2 years? Or does the Boxwave last even longer?

Thanks.
