sooo... new ppx...goodbye wisbar?
what do you think about these two programs now?

i've been using wisbar in a long time , nowadays a bit unstable; i like ppx, but is a bit confusing and there are NO vga skins yet.

what to do?

Haven't had probs w/ wisbar as long as it's installed to main, unused themes deleted, and cascading menu turned off. Works great.

Sorry, but never heard of PPX...got a link?

Got cascading menus turned on here and seems to be OK for me.
What's the problem with cascading menus? Stability?

Speed. It's plenty fast...but not for me.

I've been using PPX for almost two years now, and I have seen the project transform dramatically in that time. PPX is a phenominally extensive application, and with the newest release (v. 2.41) the application is a true replacement for the today screen and far, far beyond. There are a few, very very few VGA skins floating around, but now with the new VGA support of 2.41, I would estimate that you can expect to see some very high-quality VGA skins up within the month. I personally am beginning construction on a basic one tonight.

I prefer the look and feel of eXPerience (www.digitalexpedition.com) but I agree that ppx is nice.

More and more closed, costly software...

Argh, with all of these things that aren't open on the PocketPC, you'd think someone would go and port / create applications like this for free already (look at Xbox dev for example!)

Maybe I can take this into my own hands...

Now, regarding the topic at hand (sorry), and PPX: PPX looks, just at a glance (can't tell without using it), like it could aide in productivity. I may give it a shot.

Edit: PPX sure seems like something I could use, other than the complete lack of real VGA mode. Using QVGA mode in PPX in Real VGA mode (just to make it readable), I notice that the notification bar and keyboard icon are not aligned properly when at an input section. This, of course, is a huge deal. I also don't know if in QVGA mode things will work outside of QVGA boundries - haven't checked how skins work. A quick search shows that the developer isn't really interested in true VGA (or at least others aren't) - since I really don't have any attachment to this application, my time has no attachment to finding out for sure

it's not that Michaeal Pollard (aka Goofather, the father of both the eXpod and PPX3k projects) isn't interested in true VGA, in fact that is one of the main influencing reasons v. 2.41 was released was for increased True VGA compatibility. THe older version has HORRIBLE VGA issues. The reason it seems that VGA hasn't caught on at PPX is a mixture of a) the older PPX3k interface made VGA skins a pain in the arse to make run, b)most users at the PPX community, with only 6800 members, are still using QVGA devices, and c) the newest release of PPX with better VGA support just came out, so UI development hasn't quite got going again. Give it time, check back at PPX and over at ppxthemes.com occasionally and see what is new. I, for one, will have a little True VGA skin up pretty soon...

Justin, very good news to hear. As I said, it seemed like it can be made into something I can use - by default, no, and not with any skins available, but with something I could very well create - and if I can see something working, well, it may get me interested enough to actually use the software, and contribute what I can to the community.

I definately will keep a look out - and hey, if you can, when you find or create a skin that works with system functionality at 100%, let me know.

I think you saw the installer for WA2 which comes in several flavors. The Desktop install package is meant to install WA to you device via and .exe on your PC.

My apologies. You are correct. I just installed it and it has promise. Too early in the beta to tell how useful it really will be.
