Rom upgraded necessary?
My HP 4700 came with 1.0 ROM..and i know the upgrade is at 1.1...but of course it has its backlash to cut Battery life on extended battery etc..

I plan on Upgrading to Windows Moblie 5.0 when it comes out this August.

Do u feel I should still upgrade to 1.1?

The old adage comes to mind - 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'

Windows Media Player 10, and some greatly improved network browsing are what prompted me to go the 1.10.

Of course, I'm still dealing with the extended battery life issue, but that will be resolved soon by Mugen and Lion Battery.

Me too. I haven't updated my ROM yet for the very same reasons. No noticeable problems and I'm waiting for WM5.

So will waiting for Window Moblie 5 replace the need for the 1.1 ROM upgrade? - OR - is the 1.1 ROM upgrade is still something that active underneath the Window Moblie 5 OS.

Don't know for sure, but I am banking that the WM5 release for the 4700 series (the upgrades will all be device specific) will include everything since it will be a totally new ROM/OS image.

Yes, WM5 will eliminate the need to update to 1.10. It's actually going to be an entirely new operating system, replacing the version we are currently using.
