Two SD Cards showing?!!
Hi all,

Long time since I've posted anything! Been working like a madman. I have an interesting question. I noticed this morning in File Explorer I have a folder called "SD Card" even when the SD card is not in the machine. (It's empty). When I put an SD card into the slot, I see "SD Card" and "SD Card2". Both folders show the contents of the card.... I had a similar thing with a CF Card this morning too, but that was me being stupid and copying the CF card to the root of the Ipaq. I sorted this out by moving the folder to my FileStore. This however cannot be done with the SD Card. (Both folders have the memory card icon whereas the "CF Card" folder didn't when the "CF Card2" folder did).

Your help is appreciated!

Regards,

Easy, follow these steps
Start
Programs
File Explorer
My Device
hold stylus on SD card
Remove
use stylus to soft reset your device

"Sd card2" will disappear and regains the usual name "Sd card". Judging more posts similar like yours it can happen to your File Store and CF card as well. Personally I have suffered from this 4 or 5 times, I notice it through some of my applications (those that are installed on my SD card) don't have proper icons anymore.

Are you using ROM 1.1?

FastBlueLion,

This is an interesting problem people kind of experience in many iPAQs, at least I have experienced this in my 3970 and my friend's 3850.

Sometimes, the OS experience a kind of lock up, thus showing the "SD Card" in the file explorer even if the card has been pulled out. Thus when you insert the card in, OS recognise that you have inserted "another" SD card, as "SD Card" already exist, it will automatically put it as "SD Card1".

You can try either a) soft reset with the SD card in or b) worst case scenario, do a hard reset.

Wish you get this resolved soon.

All,

Thanks for the prompt reply. Well.....it's fixed itself! Was just going to try the suggestions, ejected the card while the machine was off, so it switched on. Started File Explorer and it ain't there anymore.

Once again, thanks for the help!

Maybe you created a folder called "SD Card" inadvertantly? Since you can't have two folders with the same name the device may have auto-renamed your real SD Card folder "SD Card2". That's what happened to me... do you notice the icons are slightly different betwen the two? I was fooling with scripting one day and when I tried to copy files to the SD Card the script created another SD Card folder on the device and copied my files there.

Thats a bit severe......just follow these steps

1. remove the SD Card from the device
2. delete the "empty" sd card folder
3. reinstate the SD card in the device.

Easy....
