hx4700 hangups
Hi,
I'm new here and I want to share some thoughts and ask some questions about my hx4700.
First when I bought it in December 2004, it did not show me File Store as the storage unit, just as the folder in the root, therefore I could not install programs in it to save RAM space. After 2 (busy!) hours chatting with online support, they recognized it as a problem, and took the unit to repair.
It came back in few days repaired, with synopsis like 'replaced the system board'. Ook, so far so good. Some minor glitches don't count.
In late spring I've started playing with various GPS navigation programs. My favorite one, TomTom 2004, didn't have a chance to work longer than 5 minutes before hangup occured. Mostly related to map browsing.
Upgrade to 1.10 resolved some glitches, and added a bunch of new ones:
- TomTom 2004 now works well BUT if I use it for navigation (means create a route and follow it for a while) it locks the unit on porgram's exit.
- iNav iGuidance v2.1 locks the unit in a couple of minutes after start
- (most bizarre) In IE, opening a page with some pictures, and scrolling it up and down several times, hangs the unit for sure!
- Media Player 10 cannot play approx 30% of my MP3s - it stalls, then jumps to the next track
Tired for all of this, I have called HP again. They refused to discuss problems with navigation programs (saying it's not related to the unit itself), but agreed that IE works strange. They took the device for checkup and returned it in a couple of days. They said they've run numerous tests, and didn't find any trouble!
It seems to me that most troubles I have are related to intensive use of graphics. It seems unique to my device for I saw no reports in the Internet about similar troubles.
Can anyone suggest what I'm supposed to do with all of that? HP's customer support is bulletproof - they stupidly bounce back any complaints and requests.
That's probably the worst PDA I've ever had. And seems to be last one from HP... Just ONE softpaq since release, all the glitches, tricky sensor buttons, plastic cover that scratches the body on the right... Argh...
