NavPoint/trackpad/touchpad failure
My hx4700's trackpad recently failed on me-in the earliest stages of failure, its input used to be extremely wonky, but it now fails to register at all. (The four buttons are still fully functional, however.)
While I could use my thumbboard in lieu of the trackpad, that doesn't allow me to use Cursor Mode, which is extremely useful for Opera Mobile and Web sites that have drop-down navigation links that can only be viewed when you have a cursor floating over part of the navigation bar.
There seem to be several exposed contact areas on the back of the input panel that appear to be key to the trackpad's functionality, some of which appear to be meant to touch certain bits of the front bezel that help keep the input panel in place, and another which is the only one of four square contact areas without a black covering that seems to be meant to contact a metal bracket that also helps hold the input panel in place.
It seems that my only recourses are to either get it repaired(which would probably be too expensive since I also have a digitizer with an input anomaly along the mid-right edge), or get another hx4700 entirely. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of money on hand at the moment(unless someone's willing to buy a X50v with a fully-functional mobo, buttons, and VGA-out, but a LCD with a damaged ribbon cable and a cracked front bezel as well as my hx4700), so I'll have to wait a bit.
Does anyone know the key to getting the trackpad portion to work? I suspect that either one of the contact points isn't conducting anything, or there's a short occurring somewhere.
