Skype re-installing problem hx4700
A was a satisfied user of Skype with my HP iPaq hx4700 PDA. But after a hard reset due to instability problems of start up the PDA, I have lost the Skype program in the Programs list. So I downloaded the .CAB file for Windows Mobile again from the Skype website. The .CAB file is installed in the iPAQ File Store. After tapping the .CAB file I get the faillure message "SkypeForPocketPC.CAB is not a valid Windows CE Setup file" !!!Also I have tried the normal .exe file, but the same problem. Remark, the PDA was connected by ActiveSync to the PC. In March 2007 I had downloaded the same .CAB file from the same Skype website downloads for Windows Mobile and installed in the iPaq File Store without problems. Why will it not succeed now? Has the .CAB file modified since March 2007 and introducing this problem? Or is there an other solution?
For information: my PDA operating system is: Windows Mobile 2003 second edition Version 4.21.1088.Therefore I’m wondering the operating system is Windows Mobile and the failure message notes about Windows CE. Or makes that no difference?
I have found in a Skype forum a question about an other installing problems to a hx4700. The solution was deactivating the HP Protect Tools program. But I have never activated the Protect Tools! It seems to me that somewhat of the earlier Skype program is remaining in the ROM. And how to remove? Mentioned is already I have made a hard reset. Many questions, but please any advice how to solve the installing problem. This question is also dropped to the Skype Windows Mobile Forum. Till now a good solution is not provided.
Thanks,Arjen
