Standby Period and Backup Battery

In the WM5 world, do the Standby Period and Backup Battery have any relevance?

I can yank the battery from my 4700 and when it's back, all my appoinments are still shown on screen. The only thing that seems to have changed is that any running programs need to be restarted.

The only thing I could think of was that you might be in the middle of, say, an Excel spreadsheet or creating a new appointment, put the device down and forget it. If power was lost then you'd loose any changes, I suppose.

Any other reasons?

The standby period and backup battery are no longer relevant in WM5.0 IPAQs. In fact, there is no such thing in the rx1950 - a pocket pc that developed after wm5.0 was available.

That's what I figured. I wonder why they kept those screens?
