Am I wrong, or plugged SD and CF cards slows down HP hx4700?

Can you tell me something about this?

Thank you in advance!

Can't say i've ever noticed, mind you i cant remember the last time i removed either of my 4gb cf or 2gb sd cards.

what i can tell you is wm5 slows the hx4700 more than any media card ever will (thats why im back using good old faithful wm03se).

Neither card should cause any noticeable slowdowns on your device.

I'm asking that because the thing is that my hx4700 works much much faster when I removed CF card....

I am running WM5 v2.01 along with a 8gb CF card and a 4gb SD card with programs loaded on each and have no issues with either the operating system or the cards. The cards stay in the 4700 at all times I never take them out and have never noticed any slow down.

There must be a program on the card that is causing the slowdown, the actual cards will not cause the slowdown you describe.
OR
Might be beneficial to defrag the card, they work like a hard drive and can benefit from the defragment process same as a hard drive on your PC.
Not as noticable on a memory card due to the small capacity...but it wouldn't hurt to do it!

David was correct, your ARM processor will run at its own speed as its programed to do....

I think...what you are seeing ...is the type of technology on your cards ...vs. the kind of things your putting on them is the conflict ... if you have slow technology storage devices ...and you are trying to move big files ( digital photos..movies...huge docs..ect ) ...its goin to choke your 4700 like bigtime...you need the ULTRA-FAST photo and media cards for that kind of thing.....

and...perhaps its also your perspective ....if your running a transfer to and or from those cards and trying to do some other resource intensive thing at the same time... its goin to puke out on you for sure ! thats expected and normal...

try to re-evlauate your card technology vs. what your doing and see if you dont need better cards or smaller files...heheheh...

The only thing i noticed, and what I don't understand is, as soon as I plugin my CF Card i have 3~4 MB less memory.
Maybe its related to this.

Greetings
Tom

I swear that my HX4700 is loads faster with WM5 and the latest 2.01 update than it ever was with WM2003! After applying all the tweaks recommended on this forum that is. Things like wisbar lite and pocket breeze seem to only have minor lag as opposed to the major lag I was experiencing with Wm2003, but I guess it all boils down to indiviual user needs and software. I have other software installed but seldom use it. I can quite happily only use wisbar advance, pocket breeze, ilauncher and pocket weather over a 3 month period.

I have solved this - The key for success is defragmentation.

If all of the memory cards are properly defragmentated, HP hx4700 run fast as never before
