Corrupted CF Card

Just a little tidbit I wanted to share.

For some reason, the programs installed on my CF Card started becoming unreadable, with the shortcuts under "Programs" displaying nondescript icons. The CF Card was unformattable using any of the Pocket PC utilities I had, and likewise so using a card reader under Windows XP. Clicking on "Removable Disk (K: )" would cause Windows Explorer to sloooooow dooooown.

I thought I had a dead card, and was pretty certain that it was due to the static electricity that crackled whenever I slipped my coat on or off.

But for some reason, I was able to format it using the DOS Prompt under Windows XP, "format K: /u." :D

Since I kept an en bloc copy of the CF Card's contents on my hard drive, it was simply a matter of copying them straight back onto the CF Card, and running my most recent Sprite Backup file from my SD Card. :D

I have no explanation as to why the CF Card was dead as far as Windows was concerned, and would like to hear your opinions as to why this happened.
