Where did you purchase your Micro Drive from? It looks like the one in the picture is an OEM card & will not work. Those are usually packaged with specific devices such as cameras. I currently use a Dell Axim x51V there have several documented issues with these OEM cards not working. The only Seagate Micro Drives that will work should have a blue & orange label on them. Personally I would stay away from the Micro Drives because of the moving parts. I have noticed reduced battery life with my device. The solid state devices do not have any moving parts. If you still decide to go that route. Be sure to format the the card for Fat 32. Otherwise your device may not recognize the full drive. Before I formatted my drive I was missing over 700meg.

hi, was this drive out of an mp3 player? there are several threads about this problem, i.e. the dont work.. i mistakenly bought a magistor 2.2 gig CF hdd , it doesnt work properly either. i think the problem is that it takes too long to wake up.. i can store stuff on it and it worked with photos but wouldnt work with mp3 files or movies for TCPMP. i have seen threads about some of these CF microdrives and they work fine in 4700.
edit..
i just looked at the picture and see that it says "for embedded use only" i think that means this drive was out of a mp3 player and it doesnt have the right firmware on it to use true ide.... do a search on microdrives on this forum and you will get answers......

thx for the info

ya dude it was brand new---i cant belive all the troubles im having finding a cf card that will work...i don't even try going to the store anymore as ive been sent home 3 times with cf I cards ---yea and on the back is the dreaded 3.04 what they hey it only costed me 20 bucks and i can store stuff on it on my comp..just wont work in the ol' ipaq

i had someone tell me this "use a Unix "boot from CD" distro and delete all partions and th like inset and it should attempt to format it"

last night so im gonna give it a try i contacted seagate and got this response "We haven't certified our drive for this device, but have done some testing sucessfully. The standard drive (blue/orange label) did work with this device."

so i guess its the 5gb photo drive that works

Here's the Seagate 8GB CF card (blue/orange label) that many use with success:

Hitachi 6GB MicroDrive works great

I am using a Hitachi 6gb microdrive which works great, as long as I don't need to pull it out. I have to use a needle nose to get it out, but I rarely do that so it stays plugged in.
