Damaged HX4700?

My HX4700 unfortunately took a tough drop a few days ago. It was on my belt clip but I accidentally knocked it out of its holder and it slid down to concrete. This had happened two or three times in the past but this time it just seemed like a harder drop.

Surprisingly, the screen is fine. Isn't that the most fragile component? I did have it in a good metal case with padding, but who knows how much that helped.

Anyway, I seem to be having trouble with the memory now. At first, I could no longer access the PIM database such as calendar, contacts, and tasks. So, I hard reset it and was unable to write anything to the My Documents folder.

Now I am trying to reflash it with either the 1.x version of the 2.x version but neither seem to be working, either. They keep getting to around 60% and then timing out.

Is it possible that the drop damaged the memory so I can't flash it with the necessary files. Before flashing it was somewhat usable--just no calendar, etc. But now, I essentially have nothing. This really angers me because the accident did not have to happen.

Any ideas? I was so surprised that the screen was fine that I figured everything was well. I might try pulling the battery for a day and trying again.

Surprise surprise! It loaded 1.10! I have it up and running and installing all my programs right now. I'll see how it runs.

I'm seriously considering stepping back from WM5 for a while and seeing if it runs faster. With WM5, I must say that it sometimes ran super fast and other times it was very sluggish. It seemed random, too. I was messing with my 3835 and found that it was incredibly snappy...granted it has less software. Does anyone have a good use for a second iPaq? I have two but never use the older one. I'm not saying I want to sell it but what could I use it for? It has a fraction of the features my HX4700 has (qvga is ugly).

I'd like to put it to use if I can...but I'm not carrying two iPaq's around. Lol. I'd drop them both and then they'd pile up and crack both screens. The issue is the belt clip. They break and just inherently put my iPaq in danger. In my pocket, it's virtually safe. I can't really fall out. But I only have so much pocket space.

Smokin'! This HX4700 is freakin flying right along. I cannot believe how fast it is with the older WM! I'm gonna keep enjoying the speed and hope it continues.

I think I may have a problem. I just soft reset it and it isn't booting. It stops at the qvga HP graphic. It doesn't switch to the vga graphic and show the progress bar. Oh great. I was so happy with how fast everything was going and now, nothing! I'll have to figure this out, I guess.
