In searching the forums I found a thread on downgrading to 2003 from 5.0

I was so excited to hear there might be a hidden "feature" on my install cd to downgrade. I followed the steps that were listed but they were for the hx2400 series. My cd allowed me to open, select "Preview & Install Software" but there was no selection called "Pocket PC SE downgrade for the iPAQ" just selections for audio and acrobat.

Can someone help me? I would REALLY like to be on 2003 and not hafta buy another ipaq to do it. I am having some serious issues with crashing and dropping data on 5.0. These issues are not happening on my co-workers ipaq's which use 2003 and the same software.

Man there are so many people who would like to kick you in the face for saying aboud downgrading =)

Maybe you could exchange PPC's with one another and pay off the difference? Both would be happy.

Can you be specific about what issues you're having with WM5? We'll all be in the same boat sooner or later, methinks.

Actually I don't believe it's possible to downgrade because the unit was never "upgraded" in the first place. It would not be a case of downgrading but regrading, and I doubt that would be possible from wm5 to 2003. If you're patient I expect Bill and his team will iron out the flaws in time.

I think you're making a wise choice in trying to downgrade..did u try to find and download just a generic wm 2003? but honeslty i dont think its possible to downgrade either..but i hope you find a solution cuz if i get a new wm5 pda id want to downgrade too..WM 5 is stupid..

My sister had the same problem, and when she phoned HP they told her it was impossible to downgrade. I think they'll eventually make everything compatible, though. At least I hope so!!!
