Copy and paste between applications

Is it possible to do this on the rx1950?

I'm trying to set up the WiFi security for mine and have copied a file from my Desktop PC onto my pda containing the rather long network key. Although I can copy the key from the file on my pda, when I come to paste it into the network key box there is nothing to paste.

Unfortunately, it doen't look like the windows mobile environment has a clipboard that can be used across applications. I've tried it between several different apps on my device with no success.

I used to be able to do this with my hx4700 with WM2003SE. They seemed to have disabled this feature on WM5 probably to heighten security??? Seems like just another added inconvenience that comes with WM5 for me.

What I do is open the document and then make the little box asking for a wifi code pop-up. This way, I have the code in the background in order to copy it easily.

Thanks. I was afraid of that :) I will have to attempt to put it in manually.

Not quite sure how to do that. What makes it even more difficult is that the network code is concealed as you type it in.

The way I do this on my Windows Mobile 2003 PDA is:

On my desktop, I copied and pasted the encryption code into a Note.
I synched the Note to my PDA
I opened up the note on my PDA, highlighted it and tapped the Ctrl-C from the onboard keyboard
Then I opened up the WIFI box that requires this code, tapped my stylus in the box
From the onboard keyboard, tapped Ctrl-V and the code gets pasted

You can't do this anymore????

Hi Julie, I hadn't tried it with a Note before. I had tried using a Word document that I had sync'd over to my PPC without any luck. Some of my third part apps (like Cash Organizer, FlexWallet, and a few others) don't seem to be able to copy/paste between other PPC apps. I may have made an over generalization about all apps on the PPC.

Hey swhoutx! This works for me for most of my applications, especially the ones that come preloaded on the PDA. I think there's a been a few times it hasn't worked, but can't think of any specific incident/application. I haven't tried to cut and paste from Word. But I keep the encryption code on a note (probably not very secure) and have cut and pasted it many times.

I wonder if this can't be done anymore with WM5.0?

I always use CTRL C and V. This still works in WM5. However, it does not work when trying to paste into the box asking for the WEP code.

I have found that in general copy & paste works on this device (there some exceptions to this that I have run into) I am not sure if this is intended or simply random apps that do not support this function. In some cases I have found that tap/hold did not but on the kbd ctl c & ctl v did work.

Cheers
RS

The big thing here is that WM5 does not support pasting into the WEP block.
