Ipaq 1950 RAM usage

I recently reflashed my 1950 to the 1.01 version of the ROM. Since the upgrade, it feels like I am using RAM at an alarming rate. After a soft reset, only 9-10mgs of RAM remain out of my allotted 24. It only takes a small amount of program usage to bring that down to 3 megs. Even if I close all the programs, I don't get that memory back. When I get down to 2 megs I need to do another soft reset.

I've used some third party apps such as Pocket Mechanic to try and figure out where all the RAM is going, but no luck.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Same here. I think that 32MB of RAM just isn't enough. I know that ActiveSync uses about 2MB, so whenever I take the iPAQ off the cradle, I shut down AS. Pocket Breeze and even the HP status bar use up RAM, not a great situation but something you have to live with. The longer I have a Pocket PC, the less I use all the gee-whiz add-ons. My first Pocket PC was an Axim X30i and then I thought I'd try a VGA X50v, it was just slower. So then I thought I'd go with the smallest unit I could find because I didn't really need anything more than an organizer, that's why I got the rx1955. Now I'm to the point where I only used the Calendar, Contacts and a few games when I'm forced to wait around. With just those requirements, I may go back to a monchrome Palm which I had used for the previous eight years (battery life measured in weeks). The "circle of life", eh?
