What the heck is going on at HP???
I’m sorry but come on these new rx3000 series of PPCs are pathetically slow.
Hubtimes video playback results at compusa are no surprise what so ever. I can’t believe these new rx3000 series ipaqs are SLOWER than the previous generations they are designed to replace.....its truly pathetic.
Spb CPU benchmark results:
2215 (pxa255 400mhz) : 1803.5
rx3715 (Samsung 2440 400mhz) : 1529.5
The rx3115 which CompUSA now sells is even slower than that with its little 300mhz Samsung cpu.
What was HP thinking??? The new Intel xscale PXA26x cpus are superior in every way plus they incorporate the new MMX instructions. What would of been perfect is if HP used the new 312mhz xscale cpu in the rx3115 and the 624mhz xscale cpu in the rx3715.
It’s truly a shame..... First they release the rz1710, which everyone will agree is the most pathetic PDA ever produced, and now this....
I just sold my HP 2215 to a friend since I heard of all these new Ipaqs coming out and I must say I am disappointed since I watch alot of encoded DVD movies. I loved how my 2215 played movies when it was overclocked to 475mhz and I was expecting the new 3715 to at least match that speed with this new Samsung CPU, unfortunately it does not and is even slower than the old 400mhz xscale cpus

Whats even worse is the Samsung CPUs are unable to be overclocked with software

.....and no, overclocking absolutely does not harm PDA CPU simply because they are so power efficient they don’t even get warm.
Sigh... It looks like I will be going over to the dark side and buy a Dell x30 with the 624mhz cpu which is a heck of alot less $$$ anyway.
