3115 and v710 phone calls
I have an ipaq 3115 and a motorola v710 bt phone. I can use bluetooth and connect to the internet just fine. But I am having a problem using the cell phone to dial. I choose a contact on the ipaq, choose dial via bluetooth and get the screen that asks me which mobile phone. I select the v710 and choose dial number. I get this error every time.
BTCePimCmdApp An unsupported operation was attempted. I've searched for the answer, but only come up with issues using call cell phone to get to the internet.

To properly use Dialup Networking via the cellphone it is best to use the BT Manager rather than contacts. You can make a connection to the phone using the dialup networking profile in the BT Manager. Take a look at the BT Guide located here for some additional pointers.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Using the bt phone to access the internet is working prefectly. And I do access that via the BT manager to connect and off I go. Web and email, it is a joy
![]() It is when I am actually trying to dial a number on the ipaq that I have problems. The link you included says that the built in function to dial via bluetooth just doesn't work with some phones and that a 3rd party app must be used. I assume that is the problem with the v710 (the crippled Verizon version and will try one of them. Thanks again!

I tried VITO dialer and it wouldn't dial the phone. I tried Simple Call and it dialed but then I could not hear the call on the phone... (sigh)
I am concerned that this simply will not work with this ipaq and this particular phone. And I would rather cut off my arm than call Verizon about this one. ![]()

Apparently this is an issue with Verizon's v710 phone and the features that they have disabled. So it will never work with this version of the phone

With VITO Dialer I am using BT Port 1. The Baud Rate is 9600, Dat bits: 8, Stop Bits: 1, Flow control: none. Since I also use a BT headset with my phone I have the option to use the BT headset checked. With Simple Call I am also using BT Port 1. Everything else is unchecked. I have changed the BT headset delay to 5. Both seems to work quite well with my phone.

Harleyxlc has a point, I'm finding out that verizon disabled all but the basic blue tooth pairing on this phone. There are quite a few po'd folk over at http://www.howardforums.com/forumdis...hp?forumid=254 That will give you an earfull about this. There is rumored to be a fix coming out in November that will allow full BT operation, but it's just a rumor until it happens.......

Those were the settings I used on both apps, whitelyt. When I dial it acts like it is a data call. I knew that Verizon disabled some bt features, but I thought it was only with data transfer.
I heard that the fix in November is just for a tilted camera, but you know how these rumors are... I personally use T-Mobile (all this trouble for my roommate!) and am going to try it with a T-Mobile bt phone, if the folks at the store are nice enough to let me play with a phone. Maybe I should tell her to just get over it and get a phone like mine, the ipaq 6315 ![]()

I had no idea that Verizon does that. Well then again I don't use or like Verizon.
harleyxlc, maybe it is a good idea to play with another phone and to see if it works right for you.

I went to T-Mobile today and tried it on a few phones (T610, V600 and BB7100T). I got farther on all of them, but couldn't make it work during my short lunch break. I went ahead and picked up the SE T610 and added it to my existing contract.
Guess what? I can dial with my ipaq, I can use the phone as a modem. I can browse phone files on the ipaq, I can browse ipaq files on the phone. It is great! So what does my roommate say after all this effort and actually getting it to work? "It doesn't have a speakerphone and I like clamshells". My god....
