rx3715 dead...
Hi, I've had my RX3715 for about a year and a half now, one day, it just froze. So I restarted it, the restart loads and when it's fully loaded the screen is just frozen. I tried a hard reset and the same thing happens. I even tried taking the battery out and resetting and still, the screen remains frozen once the loading bar is full.

Any remedies?

Thanks

ovie, i did this some months ago when i booted my 3715 with a SD card having a rom image of another ipaq. no hardware or software reset worked. I then followed the my pda section of this website and did some playing around ROM flashing. It worked gr8. if u dont have any other method, the flash it. I am not an expert but u can ask for help from other membres.

How would I flash the ROM if I can't connect to ActiveSync?

One of my methods specifically or the rx3715. I have made that one work for myself when mine bricked just like you described.

I tried that, and the PDA is just completley blank now, it won't turn on, not via the power button, reset or hard reset. I've tried taking the battery in and out too.

I have to admit, I did forget to take out that dreaded SD card though..

Hmm, that may have been your problem but I have never heard of a PDA that totally bricked!!!! It seems to have lost all memory, including the actual core OS. I will see what I can think of but I have my doubts on this one, don't give up jsut yet. Have you tried to leave the battery out overnight so it completely drains the backup battery and then recharge it and turn it on, without the SD card in?

I just posted a step-by-step guide for recovering from a "botched" upgrade. Most frequently this applied to users who were attempting a BIOS upgrade when the commercial power went out (and they weren't on UPS power), and subsequently they could not boot their device. The power failure turned their unit into a very expensive brick.

Most users who used this guide have indicated that it did resolve their problems. This guide is one that I created while I moderated at another website a few years ago.

Use at your own risk (although with it failing to boot now, it's not like you have much to lose). Let me know if it works for you!

Hi, no worries, I've got a Trinity now so it's a complete goodbye to the iPaq!

Lol hi again, my Trinity no longer works properly so I want to use this again, should I try loading the ROM from an SD card? Also, Elrendhel your link links to something about a new battery?

Cheers
