synch ipaq 3835 with Vista?

I have an iPAQ 3835 and jsut purchased a new vista PC. It looks like vista does not support activesync and windows mobile does not support the older pocket PCs.
Is there a way to synch with the calendar, files and contacts in Vista? Would I need to purchase Outlook 2007 also?
thanks

I think the only thing you need to do is upgrade the 3850 to PPC2003. You can get this on EBay.

You do not need OUTLOOK 2007, earlier versions work fine with Vista.

WMDC replaces Activesync which you can download from here..

I found the answer to this same problem in another thread, registered so I could thank the poster, and now can't find the thread again.

To get my old ipaq to synch with Vista, I had to download the Windows Mobile Device Center like Laura said (it was already installed but there was something wrong with it).

Next I had to remove the original partnership with my old laptop. The pda can only synch with one partnership at a time. Now everything works fine.
