Borked serial port on rx3115 - SOLVED!!!

Hi all,

I have an rx3115 that seems to have a semi-borked serial port.

Here's the situation: I have a Haicom 701 GPS base with an iPAQ holder for it. Up until a week ago or so, everything would work fine. I could mount the 3115 in the 701, and us gpsinfo from usGlobalSat.com or TomTom Navigator 6, and see the GPS fine.

Then, a couple of days ago, I put the 3115 in the 701, and nothing happening. So, to see if the 701 was bad, I put in an rz1715 I have, and it worked fine. Ok, problem is the 3115. So, I made a full backup, and did a hard reset. Now the 3115 can see the GPS again. Did a full restore, and things are borked again.

So, somehow I've either corrupted the registry or corrupted a dll somewhere. My question is, does anyone have any idea where to start looking to see what setting or code segment might have gotten corrupted?

Thanks.

I figured out what the problem was. I have an HP IPAQ foldable keyboard, and I had installed the driver. If the driver is marked as "Enable Keyboard", then it locks out the serial port for other uses, such as a cradle enabled GPS. Unmarking the "Enable Keyboard" on the keyboard driver allows the GPS to work as anticipated.

Just thought I'd leave this for anyone else who might have the problem.
