Fixing the iPAQ File Store for dummies :)
1. Download GER and ENG ROMs (latest) from HP's support site
2. Unpack both
3. Cancel the automatic flash procedure.
4. Locate the EnterBootLoader.exe file in the folder of the unpacked GER update
5. Copy it to PPC
6. Run it from the PPC
7. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file from the desktop to start flash procedure.
Then you have a German-language PPC
8. Locate the EnterBootLoader.exe file in the folder of the unpacked ENG update
9. Repeat steps 5-7 for the English update
You're done :)

Great thanks for that info, that helps but another question
Do you run the enterbootloader while the PPC is connected via Activesync or does it just need to be in the cradle ? (i realise that once the enterbootloader is run activesync connect will stop)
Thanks again for your time, good work in this problem.

hooray it works
Yes yes yes ! My filestore is repaired.
It works well,
For the nervous, (like me), I would like to suggest some extra notes.
1. don't worry if at 90% things seem to stop it takes about 5 from this point
2. connect to activesync before starting, (just in case someone has a cable or port problem)
3. don't use a usb hub
4. remind people that all data that is not backed up is lost :)

colinkhalid got it right ;)
it's always in the cradle and always connected. sorry for not pointing that out earlier.
mine seems to hang at 20% but don't worry about it, it a "flashing" thing ;)

This doesn't work at all :(
How on earth are you supposed to coax that f*****g flasing app to write german rom into my iPAQ?
Any ideas?
The EnterBootLoader.exe doesn't help at all.

You have to run the enterbootloader.exe on the ipaq then go to your desktop and run the german update.
note make sure you have an activesync connection before you start the enterbootloader.exe
Perhapes I should compile all the steps into a document for easy referance.

I've done it exactly like that. When I run EnterBootLoader I have AS connection. The update app just stops and says something about that my device isn't an rx3715 (says it has to be an rx3715 or higher... what is that supposed to mean?)...

Are you using the enterbootloader.exe from the unpacked German update files, not sure if this would make a differance but that is what D-meter says should be the procedure.

Yes I am running the german enterbootloader. I've tried some brave stuff like moving around the ROM image files to fool it into installing the german one, but it doesn't work at all, if it flashes it flashes the english ROM. There must be something I've missed somewhere... Could you pretend I have an IQ of 5 and post a really really detailed instruction :)? That'd be great!

1. download the german rom update, make sure its for the rx3715
2. unpack the german update, then cancell the update
3. good idea to rename the folder so that you know its the german update
4. download the english update, make sure its for the rx3715
5. unpack the english update, then cancell the update
6. good idea to rename the folder so that you know its the english update
7. you now have two folders, (usually in root of C drive), one german and one english update.
8. connect your ipaq to your PC via USB and active sync, (note don't use a hub)
9.copy the enterbootloader.exe from the german update to the ipaq
10 . run enterbootloader.exe on the ipaq
11. go into the german folder and run the update (ROMUpdateUtility.exe)
12. the rom should then update, wait til its finished
13. connect your ipaq to your PC via USB and active sync, (note don't use a hub)
14. copy the enterbootloader.exe from the english update to the ipaq
15. run enterbootloader.exe on the ipaq
16. go into the english folder and run the update (ROMUpdateUtility.exe)
17. the rom should then update
18. Filestore should then be repaired, in fact after the german update mine was repaired
Hope this helps

I've done it all like that, doesn't work.
I think I'll just phone HP support...
Oh well I've still got warranty.
Just doesn't like being without it, I need it...
