HELP! ROM doesn't respond - Fixing ROM Guidance

Guys,
My rx3715's ROM is acting very strange since yesterday. When I try to delete anything from it it hangs - sometimes so bad it needs a hard reset. Programs there seem to work, but I try to exit them it hangs again. I tried to format it - no luck, hangs. Pocket Mechanic shows no errors in the file system or whatever, but also hangs when trying to format.
Please help.

What are you trying to delete from the ROM?

Have you tried a soft (first) or hard reset?

yes, I've tried soft reset, then hard (several already). I even flashed the newest ROM, but it didn't format the iPAQ File Store (as supposed). I want to delete ANY file
:(

I think I didn't express myself right in the previous post - I refer to the persistent storage - the iPAQ File Store

Yes, works fine. You just have to copy the file "boot...."-something to the PPC and start it there. The screen goes white - don't worry. Then, while still in the cradle, start the file „ROMUpdateUtility". Flash. Repeat with the Eng version.

Unpack the .exe from HP. Cancel the auto update.

D-meter,

This just started for me yesterday. Can you post some links to the files you are referring to so that I can try this?

Thanks.

D-meter,

Ignore my last post. Thanks a ton for the tip regarding the flashing of the ROM.

I followed your brief explanation of how to do this and it worked like charm. Not only did it fix my iPaq File Store issue but it appears as though you found a very quick way to change the language ROM on the iPAQ.

Thanks a ton!

D-meter

I just wanted to say that I think that is the first time - that I can remember - that a user has helped whitelyt with an an issue (as opposed to the other way around) in a very long time - well done :approve:

hahahaha

sorry for being so brief in the explanations but i was writing on my iPAQ and writing is not the most enjoyable part of using it :)
I got to an online desktop just now, but hey, glad you understood it and fixed your problem, glad I could help. Although all the thanks go to the guys at PDATeam.ru Forums who said, I quote, "That a well-known issue" :)))
Now my iPAQ works great and if only I could find a better browser for it because PIE is so buggy and NetFront is so weird in a way...

great news an easy way to restore the file store. feel abit nervous about running enterboot loader as I have read that you can get stuck in it.

Could you give me a step by step idiots guide on how to do it.

my filestore has been locked for months and need to get it sorted.

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to all concerned for this very helpful thread.

I have had an rx3417 for about a week now, and I had been installing and running programs from the File Store. When it got to about 5Mb left, the File Store locked and I couldn't do a thing with it. I flashed the ROM to the latest version and it didn't help. I found a lot of people with this problem on the rx3715 but not the rx3417.

I used the Taiwanese and English ROM updates, being the only ones I could find for the rx3417. The file I ran on the ipaq was called "EnterBootLoader" but everything else was as above. I just ran the English update utility first to get an idea of which buttons to push (not speaking Chinese and all), flashed the Taiwanese ROM and then the English one, and presto - File Store's working.

Thanks again.
