Fix for rx3000 iPAQ File Store Lockup Issue

For those that have rx3000 devices you may have experienced an issue where your device will lock up if you attempt to write to the iPAQ File Store. Reading from the File Store will not cause problems but only if you write to it. Several people had to send their devices back to HP so that the ROM could be flashed. In most cases just flashing the ROM will fix this.

Thanks to D-meter he posted a simple process to do this yourself. If you follow the steps exactly it should fix your problem.

Take a look at this thread for details. :approve:

sounds like something HP needs to do, not users. I'm tired of being my own tech support. What did I pay several 100 dollars for?

We are overdue a ROM update anyways...they cant sit there and say these devices are perfect and need no further updating. They new WIDCOMM stack needs to be integrated into ROM

Certainly HP should. Personally I had severe issues with my PPC due to the fact that a simple sync would lock up my PPC due to email attachments and I had my Journal Bar cache writing to the File Store.

I was ready and prepared to send it back to HP for them to fix until I decided to give D-meter's process a try. I got everything up and working in 15 minutes! I was happy not to be without my PPC for 3 - 5 business days.

This process may not be for everyone. However it worked great for me. Someone else may benefit from this as well. I also saw the option available to very simply change the language of the ROM. HP will not do that customers.

So this process offers two options that someone may benefit from. I am sure happy about it! :approve:

The filestore on my ppc locked up and HP took my PDA and replaced the whole motherboard. Didn;t take long at all. It has also been performing much faster than before.

HP are sure wasting their money! Changing MoBO's when all they have to do is to write a utility to allow reformating of the filestore.

Amazing really, they don't seem to want to admit that there is a problem !

My Ipaq had this problem a few months ago after performing a ROM upgrage, the upgrade was removed from their site after so many problems occuring. My device went back to base and luckily was fixed under warrenty.

Tried both of the above and they didn't work for me.

My IPAQ RX file store locked up three weeks after I got it - overloaded it with ebooks. I've been scared to mess with roms and such, all the suggested fixed for clearing it, so I opted to buy an SD card instead and just use that as a store, leaving all the books on the file store.
