it seems there is no method to update rom at all
i never stop searching the rom and the method but finally i failed again. what a pity! maybe it's time to give up.

thanks for your reply! the job to find the english rom for my 1717 is very tough, someone give me a site ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/ as he said "you'll find everything you need there" my god! which one is useful?
