Does anyone own both an Ipod touch "and" an Axim, and if so do they favour one over the other? I am aware that an Ipod Touch is not a fully fleged PDA, but I have both and was just curios to know if anyone else does.

I have owne an Axim for several year and now I am using an iPod touch for music only. I recently upgraded their OS to version 2 which give me the same options as the Axim did. I will test this further this month but so far it is performing very well. Its WiFi capability are very good. The rest of the programs are something to get used to.

I have both and am now dumping my Axim because the iPod has become a device that is better than my Axim. As of now it does everything better, except maybe Transcribing, but I prefer keyboard. With the app store and jailbrake programs it does more than my Axim could ever do, and with another six months of App store development things will get even better, better games too I hope.
Though It was nice to have storage expansion on my Axim and the accurateness of a stylus, but VGA resolution doesn't really make that big of a difference and though they say the iTouch is a great gaming machine, I think having a seperate graphics solution would be a better like the Axim.
Thank you all for your thoughts, I had no clue this thread had been replied to, because I did not recieve any emails to tell me So appologies for not getting back sooner.

I have an X50 and a 2nd Gen Touch, and I have to say, the Touch is miles beyond what my X50 is in terms of clarity, and ease of use. I have better luck connecting to my schools wi-fi with the Touch than with the Axim. Don't get me wrong, I love my Axim, I just feel that the Touch with the app store is a better bet for me, and I am getting rid of my Axim. :(
Don't get me wrong I loved the Axim but the easy adaptation to the iPhone as it is an intuitive device surprised me too.
I got the same impression with my iPod Touch. At first I thought there was more hype than substance, but the device (virtually identical to the iPhone minus the phone capability) is very easy to use and very user friendly in terms of usability.

I have both an iPod Touh 16gb, 1st gen, jailbroken with v2.2 & a Axim X51v running 6.1.
My Ax was only getting used as a GPS unit, & for testing software as I was finding I was using my iPod more and more for surfing the net, reading ebooks, music, videos and contacts even the calendar was being used to check dates etc...
So currently looking at selling my Axim & Motorola Q9 and getting either an iPhone 16GB or the HTC Touch Diamond. I really like the Diamond so most likely go for that as I am still keeping the iPod Touch.
One of my contacts in the UK also agrees the iPhone is one of the most easiest devices to use straight out of the box, unlike WinMo devices were you have to spend some time to set up location, time, date and even align the screen (if you have a touch screen) even my Moto Q9 had a bit of a set up, compared to my touch all I had to do was sync it with iTunes and bingo ready to go. Put it this way my wife can use my iPod Touch with no probs so that speaks volumes... lol
Until the release of WinMo 7 (if and when it is ever released - I am still waiting for Vodafone NZ to release WinMo 6.1 for my Moto Q9) most WinMo devices will still be the same in my view, same engine different body. I do like that more and more PPC phones are VGA or WVGA, this is awesome as most of the qVGA devices I have owned of the years the screen was the biggest issue for me just having to use the styles all the time.
This was one reason I bought my Ax & I think one reason the iPhone / Touch have done so well the screen just speaks for it self, just so bright and vibrant and FINGER friendley, this also seems to be the theme/ trend of software makers trying to make everything finger friendly on all devices.
Well thats my 2 cents
Cheers
Jace
