I gave in and got an Ipod Touch
I have been an Axim X5 user for years since they came out, replacing it last year with my ipaq 210. I decided to go with the touch because of it being smaller in size. I know its not a true PDA (which people I am sure will argue) but I am making this my single device of use now. The only thing it can't do for my needs is connect with GPS (now anyway). I did not go with a smartphone because I have no need for one. I am also happy that Apple supports it products with OS updates. I purchased the 3.0 for $10.00. I have not seen a ROM update from HP that may have addressed some of the ipaq 210 shortcoming (which I think is still a great device, but I put it on craigslist though to fund my new habit)
I have installed Docs to go which works great for my office / pdf viewing needs
The ipod already provides me my music and podcast needs (I had installed 3rd party apps on my ipaq for this).
Contacts and Calendar synced great with outlook
I had to install a free to do app (no syncing yet with outlook).
Wifi connected no problem so far with the networks.
I paired my existing Best Buy BT Insignia headphnes with the touch.
I am experiemetning with some games (although I did buy Bejeweled 2 like I had on my Ipaq).
I am also looking at various Firefighter/EMS reference apps, as well as various misc apps.
The other thing I have is to install ewallet but I am reading that ewallet users are losing data when the ipod app is updated. I contacted ewallet and they said it was due to apples hardware. Who knows if that is true or not. The current only way I understand to get a good backup is to sync wirelessly with the desktop component of ewallet, but I do not know if I want to stick with ewallet anbd pay for an addiitonal desktop component.
Anyone using a wallet app that is not ewallet and was able to convert the ewallet file itself?
Anyone using ewallet in the touch that would like to share their user experience (good or bad)?
