im using the trial version of dopisp, it made wmp11 act weird for a little while. now its smooth, ive done about 5 transfers. it works easy and the ipod is recognized instantly. it wont transfer songs over 196kb tho.

The long way to get a different bitrate would be to burn all your MP3's to CD, then re-rip them, but I'm guessing that's not what you had in mind. Anyways, do a Google search, and something is bound to come up.

The best way I've found to convert WMA's to MP3's is using iTunes. When you import WMA files it will convert them to MP3 (make sure you set this in preferences, because they get converted to AAC by default).

You could use dBpoweramp to convert. I think audacity does the same.

yeah itunes takes about 30 min per track. so thats def out of the picture. i saw that poweramp before, it looks nice. i been on google all day. this look likes somethin that might take more than a day, dammit. im actually considering re-ripping.

Oh if you have the ability to re-rip I'd definitely go for that. Any conversion is going to lose some quality and besides being slightly tedious it is really simple to rip cds, as you know.

30 min a track? Does your computer have a abacus in place of a CPU?

iTunes converted my wmas to mp3 really fast when I installed it a year ago, took only seconds for the few artists I had. Reducing bitrates I've never done, but it can't take long either. 30 min a track means something's wrong somewhere.

dopisp newest version

update-------dopisp will covert unprotected wma's to the ipod, you have to make a adjustment in the plug-in menu. the same is true for mp3's over 192kbps.
wmp11 is still growing on me, but this plug-in is def worth the 15dollars.

wma's sent to an ipod thru wmp, and no need for itunes=beautiful
