For a couple of weeks I haven't been able to figure out why my Synaptics TouchPad had stopped working on my Acer TravelMate 4060. Of course I was too busy (read idle) to research the issue

until today and it's been a minor inconvenience over Christmas.
Anyway, next week sees the start of a new contract (and lots of time away from home) and mobile access to the Internet is critical: I just can't be doing with USB mouse and all the paraphinalia that goes with it. So, I Google
"Synaptics Touch Pad not Working" and get the answer immediately.
If anyone has a similar problem:
Fn+F7 toggles the touchpad between enabled and disabled.
I am such a muppet.
