I talked to HP a little while ago... I am going to send the laptop into HP for them to fix it.

Looks like that was the only way. Well, at least they are going to fix it for free (because it is under warranty).

I just got my laptop back from HP. The fixed everything!!!

I found this forum by searching for nc8230+resources+(Code 10), also (Code 12). Same problem with WiFi not working, intermittently, but I am using Windows XP. I have a hard time booting up: I have to try several times, and then different device drivers will have the resources problem. I haven't installed any hardware recently! What are these "resources" it keeps complaining about? Interrupts?

Yes. You have the same problem as I do. You will need to send it into HP, and they will repair it. MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM TO REALLY FIX IT! TEST THE LAPTOP FIRST BEFORE YOU SEND IT BACK!!!! Why am I saying this, it took 4 trys to get the laptop 100% working for me.

And it just caused more problems.

I had to complain very much to get the point around them... It's a good service if they end up fixing the laptop the first try.

But now, the WIFI works... You should be able to fix it for free if you have some warrenty left, if not, you will end up paying some money....

Thanks, I'll do that next week when work calms down. Giving up my laptop for a couple of days is like giving up my brain....

if i would have come across this psot before i would have recommended a BIOS upgrade first .... that does solve a lot of problems ... but im glad to know that finally HP was able to vanquish ur problems !!

Yay! Congratulations! (Sorry it took so long to respond).

The fact that it's working now makes me think that they probably replaced the card. Did they actually specify what changes they made to fix the problem for you? I would be very interested in knowing...

Wow, I totally forgot about this thread.

Yes, when I sent the laptop in, HP replaced the wireless card. It was defective. But, that's not the catch. They ended up replacing the whole motherboard if I can remember correctly.

I don't use that laptop any more actually, I bought a new one, with better specs too; cheap for sure... The Compaq Presario F700 notebook... It works fine with Vista, and it is really fast.

But, I was glad HP fixed it. It had later problems with the battery not charging; and etc... It was just a flaw laptop....

And for phreaker18's responce, the BIOS was already on the current version as of that time... It was hardware, not software...

Your welcome. Yeah, it was all solved. It seems like one problem with that laptop, equals one more problem... But, HP is great with their newer laptops.
