cheap laptop

Hello everyone I am on the market for a cheap but fairly good laptop, now I am looking at these two choices :
dealstudio.com :: View topic - Acer 2310 Intel Dual-Core 1.46GHz 14" 2GB 160GB $550 :: Deals, Coupons, Rebates, Freebies, Discounts, Bargains
Buy the Toshiba Satellite 15.4” Widescreen Laptop and other Laptop Computers at circuitcity.com
Which one should be better , if you have any eperience with them please don't tell me . Thanks in advance.

Cheap? Fairly good laptop?

Either one should work for you. Have fun.

I still think that Dell laptops are the way to go... I'd look at the latitude or vostro series and wait for a sale or coupon code

The vostro series is great. And you can still get them with xp on them, which makes them a lot faster without needing all that extra ram to run vista.

Dell just had incredible price on laptops. $399, I think that was last week. Go check if they still have good deals

Of the two, I would choose the Acer: I had an Acer before I went for the DELL Inspiron and in some respects, the Acer was a better machine.

However, I agree with radimus, have a look at DELL's Vostro series.

And I agree Jogga that of those two the Acer seems better. Thanks all for your replies everyone.

Make sure you get the core2duo processors. On the entry level laptops an amd is usually included and these are slow, especially with vista.

I was in a store once and it was a $349 pc with vista basic and an amd with like 512mb or 1gb ram (cant remember, either way it was low) This thing froze up when i tried to open word 2007. After like a minute it finally stated to respond, but all the core2duo pcs handled tasks much better.
