Dell Vostro disappointment

I just received my 1500 after comparing several options including Vostro, Lenovo and Latitude.

The speed and hardware is pretty good, but as soon as I took a look at the screen, i was hugely disappointed. What a low-end screen is that! I compared it to my 3 year old Toshiba side by side, and you can clearly see the difference. Adjusting gamma did not help either, even at 0% it was still too bright and uneven. It is sharp but gives me headache looking it at over 2 hours because of the brightness/backlight or whatever that makes it whitish.

Vostro is going back on Monday.

That is kinda bad. What kind of screen did you get with your vostro 1500. They offer a few choices, and i want to know which one(s) to avoid when buying a laptop from dell.

I chose TruLife, which was supposed to be better.

It went back, they received it today, was told it will take 7-14 days for the refund.. I have to wait for the refund to get a new one. Yesterday I went to BB, and what do you know, they've go Dells, and bunch of other laptops, non of them felt right, and I saw a Toshiba that costs $549 with low-end config, and the screen is amazing. I guess the screens are getting cheaper and cheaper and cheaper nowadays. They all look whitish, while Toshiba looked completely (well, almost) black when I run the Logo Screen Saver test on them.

I am now considering Toshiba or Fujitsu.
