I need some opinions between these 6 models

I'm getting myself a laptop, but I can't decide which one to get. I live in Canada by the way. I'm willing to spend about 1300$ CND (without tax)

Acer: AS5101AWLMi for 800$

HP Pavillon: DV2120CA for 1200$
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...93&catid=20354

HP Pavillon: DV6125SE for 1300$
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...81&catid=20354

Acer: AS5050-5827 for 800$
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...est%5Fcookie=1

Acer: AS5102AWLMi for 900$
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...est%5Fcookie=1

Acer: AS5630-6317 for 1200$
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...est%5Fcookie=1

In terms of performance, I'd say all the above are quite good. HP's imprint finish is amazing. Too bad it does not have PC card Type II slot. I've also heard that Acer laptops aren't that good either. Can anyone confirm that?

I have to ask before I make any recommendations, what are your primary uses? Also, the one thing I have learned is never sacrifice what you want to save a buck or two. You will always regret your purchase.

I purchased a Pavilion dv2035us a few months ago and am very happy with its performance. Not only is it the nicest looking laptop I have ever owned, but it does everything I want it to do - no problems whatsoever. The only thing I wish it had is bluetooth. It would also be nice if the IRDA could be used with my IPAQ (the IRDA that is installed on these Pavilions only works with the remote controller for QuickPlay).

I am thinking about buying another dv2000 for my husband for Christmas.

We had an old HP, it performs well but I thought the finish looked cheap but the new ones have sturdier feel to them.
Do they allow you to watch media off CD without turning on the OS? That's a big plus if they do, if all you want is to watch a movie. Also if it allows you to use the video out while in that mode that's also a nice addition.
Lastly their speaker replacements have not been the best, can't make it from those pictures where they put the speakers.

If you think about using them other than multimedia, HP might have better support then Acer, I never dealt with them so I cannot tell much.

kjk437:
My primary use is for 3D CAD design for my current robotics project with a friend. It's annoying to always go to someone's place while is always more pratical to have a laptop outside residential environment.

I will be using it for remote desktop connection to my work place whenever I'm waiting for someone (for a very long time since they are always late) and when hotspots are available.

Home use as well. Yes, at home because my older sister just want to use my computer for no reason rather than her old laptop. She's too lazy to get it fixed at all and keeps saying "wait until I have to time to get it fixed."

Then of course, I would like to have one that's powerful enough for some games like Need for Speed or just MYST IV and V. But gaming isn't the main reason for this purchase, but I would prefer not to have an integrated Intel GMA 950.

I also would like to have a laptop that's 15.4" and less so that it can fit into any bag I currently have. I don't want to get a carrying case.

Julie:
I agree. Integrated Bluetooth would be nice. But that doesn't really matter since I have a USB Bluetooth transceiver.
