Thinkpad does it again!
I would make this an article, but i thought i would just update people cause i'm blackbook fanboy

Just when i thought that Lenovo was having too much fun screwing with Thinkpad die-hards, the go and do us proud. Meet the X300. Sure, it's not as catchy of a name as the Macbook Air, but CNet agrees, its the best ultra-portable out there. It sports a DVD burner--that's HOT SWAPPABLE. Oh...and it fits in one of those interoffice envelopes too. CNet gave it a 10 for design. If only the user replaceable battery lasted longer, it would get a higher score (20 minutes shy of the Air)

*sniff* i knew you had it in you, Lenovo!

I had an opportunity to work on one of these a couple of weeks ago- I helped the end user configure her wireless. Turns out that Conair (the hairdryer company) deployed a bunch of these.

It had 3 GB of RAM and felt as sturdy as a toughbook. I was very impressed with the ergonomics and handling. Even more impressive was that it still had the "designed for XP" sticker, and was running XP Pro. Some things are better left alone. I'll stop short of saying ...."to hell with Vista!".

That is a nice looking machine: having said that (and I hate to say this), the Apple is still better looking.

Still both are a little out of my price range at the moment
