I almost feel an obligation to support someone who has written a game soley for the X50v.

Problem is, I find playing this type of game a waste of time, as the X50v doesn't have sufficiently good controls.

I wish someone would make a plug in controller!

i know this game is pretty good as far as pdas are concerned. but i must say that most games on handhelds are of better: graphicswise or interfacewise. games like this (supposedly the best amongst current pdas: utilises hardware acceleration) just remind us that pdas are not meant to be gaming machines. i love my x50v, but if the best is at this level, then it's simply not good enough.

GeoRally EX (as well as Toy Golf) is already included with every x51v that Dell sells as part of a companion CD. IonFx focused heavily on graphics, but they also made sure that the controls were very well refined, which is important. See the review here: Pocket Gamer

What I would like to know is if GeoRally EX will be included in the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade like the x51v.

This looks like it has some great graphics but there seems to be no game play at all!! Shouldn't there be other drivers on the road to either hit or race? Maybe a cop chasing ya?

They might have taken a short cut and left out other cars because of performance issues. Either that or they really wanted you to be bored out of your mind.

Rally racing is often a time-trial type thing...

...which is one reason I don't like rally type games. I really wish this one had a demo, though.

How is the actual gameplay though? I've had a hard time actually controlling all these 3D racing games with the dinky little D-pad on the x50v.

I feel that the control is awesome. You can map it so that you control the car with the d-pad and accelerate and decelerate with the right side of your touch screen. Accelerate is the top half and obviously decelerate is the bottom half. I bought the game the day it dropped and to be honest it is one of the better games IMO that I have played.
