Inertial recently found this free viewer, XnView when looking for a way to view TGA files on his x50v. This is what he had to say about it:
The most common application that uses TGA files that I'm aware of is iLauncher. There may be others. I personally use it to browse for TGA images I have stored on my Axim to use as iLauncher icons.
XnView is VERY similar to Resco Photo Viewer. The interface appears to operate pretty much the same as Resco, although the GUI doesn't appear as polished. See screenshot attached to this message below.
XnView will read JPG/JFIF, GIF, BMP, PNG, 2BP, TIF, PCX, PBM, PGM, PPM, PNM, XBM, XPM, TGA and it will convert to and write JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG
Another WONDERFUL perk is that it has a screen capture utility built in that will allow you to delay your screenshot for a few seconds (1, 5, 10, or 15) to allow you to switch to another app to capture. XnView's screen capture doesn't make you save in BMP format, either; you can also save in JPEG (custom compression ratios!), PNG and GIF.
If you browse around their site, you'll see they have a desktop version of the software that is also free. It doesn't have any interaction with your WM device, but it does a pretty decent job at image browsing and conversion.
When you go to download the software you will need to provide a name and valid e-mail address. They will then send you a download link for your copy of XnView Pocket. The desktop version doesn't require you to submit this info.
Here is what you can found on the site
You can easily visualize your images and photos on your Pocket PC with XnView Pocket. Thanks to these many tools of final improvement you can correct your photos, share them with your friends and your family by sending them by e-mail. XnView Pocket makes it possible to you to realize slide shows particularly with the executable format readable by all.
It's pretty good, I use it for WAD. I just dont like the interface as much, but still for a free app, it's great.
:approve:

Hey NoWire....I mentioned in "Should know" that you steered me towards this app. I think it's certainly worth mentioning this excellent piece of freeware to all.

I've been using this freeware app for at least six months and highly recommend it for quick file conversions or resizes on the PPC. Works fine on WM5 on an x51v also.
I use the desktop and the ppc version.
On the ppc I use it to crop digital pictures from my sd card to a format usable for a MMS message on my mobile phone.
The desktop version is also excellent.

I use the desktop version at work. It doesn't require installing a whole lot of DLL files all over the place and that's a good thing. Our workstations are locked down. If I have a simple task that needs to be done to an image, this is the tool for it.

You know, I don't remember actually having to enter the code. I've just poked around everywhere I can think of in the software and can't find an area. I'd just make a note of the code in case it does ask you at some point.

the email said, "Register the installation file on your hard disk, double click on this file and then let it prompt you". But I didn't get any prompts.. weird.

Ah. I think this is due to translation issues. You may have noticed the main site is French.
I think it simply means download to your hard drive and double click it to install. It'll prompt for install location.
