Ultramote® 3.2 Universal Remote Package Adds Support For Dell’s New Axim X51 Series

Any Remote Control users out there? How about proud owners of the new X51 series Pocket PC? Well . . . here's a piece of software for you! The latest version is compatible with 24 different pocket pcs including the Dell X5, X3(i), X30, X50 and X51 series . . .

UltraMote® universal remote software is now available for the new Dell Axim X51 & X51V model Pocket PCs, bringing to 27 the number of Pocket PC models supported by the award-winning UltraMote solution.

Two of the new Axim models supported include integrated WiFi and Bluetooth, which can be used with the UltraMote infrared remote control solution for living room multitasking.

The UltraMote package lets Pocket PC users channel surf, control their DVD players, set up the VCR, control the audio, change the lighting, or control any number of tasks related to the home theater, at a fraction of the cost of many dedicated universal remotes. On those supported Pocket PC models with built in WiFi and Bluetooth, users can also surf the web, download pictures, or even take a Skype internet phone call.

With the built-in CF slot on the new Axim X51 models, users also can use the proprietary UltraMote Extender® to control their systems up to 50 feet away.

The UltraMote solution supports 24 other Pocket PC models including other selected Audiovox, Dell, HP, Siemens, and Toshiba models. A new version of the popular UltraMote Pocket PC comparison chart is available on the website to help purchasers of new and used Pocket PCs to choose the model with the optimum balance of weight, size and remote control range to support their needs.

The UltraMote software is available free for a 14-day trial by downloading from www.ultramote.com. The combination package of the UltraMote software and UltraMote Extender card is priced $35 U.S. plus shipping. Software only is priced at $15 U.S. To purchase, or for more information, go to www.ultramote.com

Seems nice, but I don't use remote controls enough to justify it. The only real use for it would be to change the station when I'm at a bar for kicks.

I've got 5 remotes in my living room and have been thinking about getting this package for a while now. I haven't gotten it yet because

a) I think I need tactile feedback to use a remote quickly and without looking at the buttons or anything. I'm skeptical about the efficiency of using a touch-screen remote.

b) I like to read email and surf the web while laying on my couch and watching tv or listening to music, it might be a bit of a pain using my axim like that AND using it to control the tv/stereo or whatever.

It's tempting though

Well I've got it for my X5 and I think its great - It replaces 12 items in my house and is great when you cant find the remotes your daughters have taken. The devices it replaces are
TV x 3
Video x 3
DVD x 3
Surround sound x 1
Stereo x 2
Very cheap and easy to design the buttons for the display.

5 Remotes + their devices + websurfing/email. isn't that a little to much? even with the most efficient devices thats multitasking like a mad man :rolling: I don't know how this program works but its gotta have a quick switch between remote for ur tv/stereo/other devices. So if it was up to me, 5 remotes + a ppc or 1 ppc with all remote functions, i'd so go with the ppc! besides it means more room on the coffee table for your feet! I can just imagine fishing the couch cracks for the right remote...

The extender itself would have been nice if it was standard/built into the Axim and not an expansion, the range of the IR on axim x50v is still quite decent compared my old Ipaq's IR abilities, i pretty much had to be in arms length of the tv sometimes!! which made it pointless. The need for the cf slot is the thing that makes me go :(

Pretty sure the IR extender is optional, if the built in IR works well enough for you you can just use their software.

The CF-based Extender would be nice. The application would have to support True VGA in order for me to use it since I would want cursor buttons and such on a single screen.

have a look at the philips pronto remote control. I have used one for years (actually cannot remember what it was like without it...)

Press a button and the DVD/Amp/TV turns on, TV sound goes down, tv turns to correct tv channel, Amp selects correct input and then its ready to play.

As for where the buttons are, you get used to it, when u design ur own one you will get to know how to get places without needing buttons.
