Inertial,
I also have upgraded to FW2006 and like some of the new features. However, I'm having a text entry problem with the desktop. When I’m typing into a card, the backspace key functions like a left arrow key and the spacebar functions like a right arrow key. The only way to delete info is to hit the backspace key to the point I want to delete and then put the mouse cursor there. If I backspace all the way to the beginning of the text block, putting the cursor there leaves an artifact character at the beginning of the line. If I try to put spaces into the middle of some text, almost all of the characters get corrupted. Also, as I type, the 1st few characters get “bolder”. Anyone else have this issue? I've emailed TwoPeaks.

I hadn't tried creating new cards on the desktop until I read this. I created a test card and the text entry worked fine for me.

Okay, after a grand total of about 20 minutes using the new version, here's my take on it.
For my uses, it more than does the job. Functionally it is nearly identical to the 2005 version but there are a number of new features/tweaks.
The first one I noticed on the PPC was that when you copied and pasted a card, you now got a card named "Copy of...." Nothing too extraordinary, but it does help when you're trying to organize your cards.
They also have added a feature to let you designate certain cards as Favorites so that you can open them much quicker instead of sometimes having to burrow through several layers of categories to get to your card.
To make navigation easier, they have added a list view that uses smaller icons so each card takes up less of your screen, allowing you to browse more cards at once.
The mobile version and the desktop version both support using custom icons for your categories and cards, although setting them up can take a little bit of work. Relatively easy once you know what you're doing, but a little hairy until you do. See http://www.twopeaks.com/FlexWallet/CustomIcons.aspx
The desktop version has a few new tweaks, too. The most obvious is the new Outlook 2003-style layout. Not really a major selling point or a detractor.
Probably the most useful changes for the desktop have to do with copying your data to the clipboard. In the 2005 version, you couldn't easily highlight and use CTRL-C to copy the data. Now you can. There's also a small button next to each text field that you can click to automatically copy the data to the clipboard. VERY nice new feature.
Bottom line in my opinion is that this isn't a must-have upgrade, but if you decide to take the plunge, especially with the upgrade discounts, you won't be disappointed. If, however, you don't have a registered version of FlexWallet 2005 or eWallet, I'd highly recommend it. Especially with the 50% off discount from PocketPC Thoughts that's already been mentioned.
Thanks, Inertial, for your mini-review. I ended up buying the upgrade last night, rather than switching to another competitor. I do prefer the new desktop client, at least aesthetically, and the think the new features are helpful, albeit not essential. I agree with you: not an essential upgrade, but not bad either if you already own FW.
I have been using Flexwallet for about a year now. Over all I have been almost completely satisfied. My biggest gripe was the fact that it corrupted three of my wallets over the last three updates. Luckily I had backups all the time. The developer was nice enought with trying to find out what the issues were and resolving them.
Befor I got flexwallet I was using codewallet for about two year. I never had any such issues with codewallet.
The main reason I switch to flexwallet was because of looks.
Codewallet has since then updatet their software. So I would urge anybody who is interested in such an application to check out Codewallet befor they make any purchases. As I think it looks and performs just as well as Flexwallet. They share most of the common features. http://www.developerone.com/windowsmobile5/
Reading over the features, to me it still seems eWallet is the better choice.
I've bought them both. I had FlexWallet 2005 and only switched to eWallet for the custom icons capability. I gave eWallet a good go after I bought it, too. I just couldn't stay with it and went back to FlexWallet 2005.
The only other major featuer eWallet has over FW is the per-record sync. Sorry, but I just don't really care about that.
But again, to each his own. If you use trials for both, or even CodeWallet, you should easily be able to figure out what you prefer well within the trial periods. Buy that one and all will be right with the world. :approve:

Tried Flexwallet and have a license for both Codewallet and eWallet, and so far for use eWallet has been the best choice for my use.

Can you explain the importance of this? What alternative apps have it? Thanks.
This means that each record is synced between the PPC and desktop versions individually rather than just syncing the entire wallet file as a whole. If you make changes on both your PPC and on the desktop version, per-record sync would merge the changes together for you. Without it, activesync will show an 'unresolved item' when syncing your wallet file and you'd need to pick which side you want to get overwritten. You lose the changes you made to whichever file you pick.
IIRC, ewallet has per-record sync now.
I use SplashID for the ppc and desktop. I like it just the way it is. Works great. No problems. Relatively cheap. (From migration of Palm). Good stuff.

FlexWallet 2006 is able to use FW 2005 database, but will change it, so if you decide to return back to FW 2005, the password file will be unreadable. Backup your passwords file before installing FW2006

Good point! This is especially important for those people that use the trial before deciding whether or not to upgrade.

I'm not sure this is the case.
I didn't read the System Requirements, and foolishly plunged into the upgrade (being only $9.95 with discounts) - as I have done since originally buying FW1.5>. Unfortunately, I have a (perfectly serviceable!) X5, running PPC2002, so it would not install on that machine (it requires Mobile2003). However, I'd already uninstalled from both Desktop and PPC - and had already accessed my sync'd data file using the desktop version, on the PC. I re-installed FW2005 on the PPC(/Desktop), and then installed FW2006 back on the Desktop again - and have therefore been using different Application versions on Desktop and PPC to access the same (sync'd) data file. I have had no issues to date.....
The db certainly changed from 1.7 to 2005, but the upgrade instructions at that time explicitly covered that (referring to a data migration procedure that takes place on the desktop version). There are no such instructions or warnings for FW2005->FW2006; given that, and the experience that I have had, I do not believe that the db structure changes with this upgrade.
Having said all that - the advice to ALWAYS backup your data file before any upgrade is, of course, 110% correct..... !!
Cheers,
P.S. Probably more importantly - still happy with the product - does exactly what it says on the tin....
