I have tried the AS4 beta and 4.1 beta and both caused issues for my X5. I have now used the final release above and everything works fine. No problems so far.
why can't AS "remote" be setup to connect via a port to be specified by the Admin and then have the corporate firewall open that port for the AS server to listen on and have the remote AS user login to be authenticated - like allowing remote users to log in to an smtp server that requires authentication? No less secure than opening ports for pop3, smtp, http, ftp, etc it would seem. Sounds too simple so please shoot holes in this so I understand the issues better...
No offense intended but it's a mote point, unless you are working on the
software for Microsoft.. there aren't any issue, they shut it off, it won't work until they reenable it.
There are all kinds of ways to implement it, you concepts are just one of many... but keep thinking :D

I know this is an old thread and i am sure this is a newbie question (Even though I have had my axim for quite some time-i always feel like a newbie b/ I forget everything!)
For a casual user who connects to the internet wireless but I have never synced my axim wirelessly....will this new 4.1 changes affect what I do? I have 3.8 and it works-I just didn't know if I should update or not.

Keep 3.8. It's the most stable version for pre-WM5 devices. Version 4.x has security features which have been causing headaches for many, including the inability to sync via wifi.
